USCCB: bishop decries place of origin security's memos on border security - Catholic subculture

Bishop Joe Vásquez of Austin, the chairman of the U.S. bishops' Committee on Migration, criticized two memoranda on immigration enforcement and border security issued by way of the branch of native land protection.

The memoranda, Bishop Vásquez argued, "will hurt public security as opposed to increase it. moreover, taken in their entirety, the policies contained in these memoranda will needlessly separate households, upend peaceful communities, endanger the lives and security of the most susceptible among us, breakdown the have confidence that at the moment exists between many police departments and immigrant communities, and sow outstanding fear in those communities."

He introduced:

The DHS memoranda eliminates [sic] critical protections for prone populations, including unaccompanied infants and asylum seekers. They greatly expand the militarization of the U.S./Mexico border. Taken together, these memoranda constitute the institution of a huge-scale enforcement device that aims essentially all undocumented migrants as 'priorities' for deportation, consequently prioritizing nobody.
