Despite reports he had been , he told Channel 4 News: "I fought the last election, as did all Labour MPs, on a commitment to maintain our nuclear deterrent, which has helped to keep the peace in the world since the end of the second World War.
"I think the primary responsibility of Government and the opposition is to make sure that the country is defended and that people are kept safe and that's what I want to see come out of the review."
Caroline Lucas, the only Green MP, has said she will take over as the parliamentary group's chairman, after Mr Corbyn said he had relinquished the role due to time pressures.
Ms Lucas paid tribute to her predecessor and insisted that parliamentary support for disarmament was growing.
She said: "Jeremy's been a passionate and effective advocate for nuclear disarmament in Parliament for many years and I'm proud to be taking over from him.
"There is a growing cross-party consensus on nuclear disarmament with the Labour Party leadership joining the Green Party, SNP and Plaid Cymru in opposition to renewing Trident."
Mr Corbyn stood down from his position as a vice-chair of CND and became vice-president after winning the Labour leadership race last September.
