Swiss vacationer's Stolen Bike discovered, fastened via DC-area cycling neighborhood - NBC4 Washington

The commute of a lifetime took a bitter turn when a Swiss lady's bicycle changed into stolen in D.C.
Sandra Jaggi begun a cross-nation trip along with her aunt in l. a. in April.
After making it to D.C. in June, they determined to lock their bicycles on a bike rack on the Capitol Heights Metro station in a single day.
When Jaggi and her aunt went lower back to the Metro station, both of their Surly manufacturer touring bikes have been gone.
"We're no longer used to [a place where] the bikes get stolen so without problems. So, we just had a cable lock, which turned into reasonably, type of, stupid," Jaggi told News4 by the use of Skype.
a couple of days after their bikes were stolen, they turned to the Silver Cycles bike shop in Silver Spring, Maryland, to help them get replacements, so that they may conclude the remaining leg of their trip from D.C. to big apple.
"I entreated them to get a police report carried out and get the bikes registered on the online network, Bike Index, and on all of the local D.C. corporations ... to look ahead to this bicycle within the area," said Jen Trujillo, who works at Silver Cycles.
On Oct. 6, Jeggi's bike turned up on a classifieds site. D.C. bike owner Chris Olin talked about he knew anything was suspicious when he noticed the bike, worth $1,200, listed for $300. The seller on the site identified himself as "Jay."
After Olin called police, Metro Transit police set up a sting.
"So, our detectives researched a little extra. sure ample, we made contact with the particular person who identified himself as Jay. Made a deal over the cyber web. Met him here day and arrested him for the stolen bike," talked about Metro Transit police Chief Ron Pavlik.
James Victor Cannaday, 27, of Brandywine, Maryland, was arrested and charged with receiving stolen property. He referred to he bought the bike from someone else for $50.
Silver Cycles has repaired the bike, and Trujillo talked about it is going to soon be shipped returned to Jaggi in Switzerland.
"Such a pleasant experience and we did not expect it, however changed into spectacular," Jeggi referred to.
Her new friends in D.C. have promised to hold an eye fixed out for her aunt's stolen bike, a khaki-coloured Surly lengthy Haul Trucker.
