The research found that there are 191 female MPs in Westminster after the 2015 election, more than ever before and over 100 more than the 19 who were present on the green benches in 1979 when figures began.
It means 29% of MPs are women and the Labour party has more female members than any other party at 99 compared to 68 in the Conservative party and none in the Liberal Democrats.
There are now 24 MPs over the age of 70, more than ever before, and 107 aged between 60 and 65 - another record.
The report found: "As the established professions have declined they have been replaced by MPs from other non-manual occupations. Particularly notable is the growth in the number of MPs who come to Westminster already with previous political experience.
"In 1979 3% of MPs from the main parties were previously politicians/political organisers, compared to 17% in 2015. MPs with a background in business tend to be Conservative. The decline in their number was reversed in 2005 and they now form a quarter of the main parties’ MPs."
The longest serving MPs are Kenneth Clarke, Sir Gerald Kaufman and Dennis Skinner who have been working in Westminster for 44.8 Years excluding dissolution periods, since the 1970 general election.
