KINGSTON, Jamaica (JIS) — Outgoing chief of the Opposition, Portia Simpson Miller, is proposing that a different Standing Committee on Social safety be based in Parliament, aimed at expanding participation in pension schemes.

The Committee, she recommended, should still additionally focal point on promoting retirement planning and rate reductions in the nation.

She lamented that no longer many Jamaicans take the count of pension and retirement planning significantly, noting that below 15 per cent of the population now contributes to a pension scheme.
